Catering – American Airlines

Job Title: Catering
Location: Alpha Lsg – The Encompass Centre, Hounslow
Job Types: Permanent / Shifts
Salary: £8.60/ hour

Food carts and supply trolleys must be – searched, sealed and monitored from cart assembly in the kitchen until delivery onboard the aircraft.

1. Search – must be conducted to the extent permitted by local laws and hygiene standards and will be conducted to ensure no prohibited items are present.

• Focus on external appearance of items, appropriate weight, signs of tampering with packaging, insertion of inappropriate items etc. inspection of food carts and supply trolleys must include, but not limited to, side panels, doors, undercarriages and dry ice compartments.
• Items to be searched include, but are not limited to the following – Food carts
– Food and drinks
– Serving utensils
– Supplies
– Liquor and duty-free items
– Gift items for passengers

2. Seal – upon completion of search, all outbound food carts and supply trolleys will be sealed with a BLACK security seal, prior to loading onboard the transport vehicle.

• Seals are used for inbound carts and required for carts that remain onboard at LHR (LHR Customs requirement).

All catering seals and related supplies must be accounted for, stored in a locked container and protected from unauthorised access. The ISC or LSA must ensure inventory control in maintained for catering seals, not the caterers.

3. Monitor – After outbound food carts and supply trolleys are sealed at the catering facility they will remain under constant observation by security personnel until loaded in the vehicle for transport to the aircraft.

• Security personnel will search the truck before food carts and supply trolleys are loaded onto the vehicle for transportation to the aircraft.
• Seals will be placed on the transport vehicle and record will be made of the seal numbers used on each vehicle.

Location: London Heathrow Airport
Job Types: Permanent / Shifts
Salary: £8.40 / hour

We are currently looking for security agents to perform various security functions for our American Airlines security contract. These duties may include Aircraft Guarding, passenger searching, catering security, baggage security and passenger interviewing. As some of these functions interface with passengers, it is important to have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Security is an important part of the passenger process and it is important that a safe and secure environment is maintained at all times. Our staff are professional in the way they act and dress, ensuring security compliance for the airline operation.

Competencies/Requirements

• Right to work and live in the UK.
• UK resident for minimum 3 years.
• 5-year checkable employment / education history.
• Successful clearance of DBS, CTC, GSAT & BSAT.
• Excellent communication skills in English– both oral and written.
• Second language desirable but not essential.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Flexibility and availability according to operational needs.
• Experience or the ability to deliver excellent standards of customer service.
• Self-motivated, also able to work well in a team.
• To be smart and professional in appearance.
• Polite and courteous at all times, including potentially conflict situations.
• Resilient with the ability and able to work under pressure.
• To be approachable, flexible and friendly at all times.
• Punctual, professional and with attention to detail.

Other requirements:

• The applicant should be able to easily travel to Heathrow Airport at various shift times which cover early in the morning and late at night.
• All our staff need to maintain compliance in training, so there will be ongoing training courses to achieve this.
• The position is subject to passing the initial training courses; obtaining the Heathrow Airport Pass and passing the counter terrorism checks.
• Evidence of right to live and work in the UK, must undertake a CRC (Criminal Record Check) and provide 5 years checkable referencing history.
• Record any health or safety incidents and ensure all relevant parties are informed.
• Communicate with your Team Leader or Supervisor regarding any potential problems which may be encountered within the operation
